Guest Minister
The Reverend Duane Fields, Sr. was born in Queens, New York to Pastor and Mrs. Marvin Fields. He accepted Christ as his Savior on May 24, 1984, at 8:30 p.m. in his parents’ bedroom during family Bible Study and joined the Evangel Baptist Church, Laurelton, NY. On July 19, 1997, he married the love of his life, the Rev. Sheree Fields and to this union two children were born, Duane Jr. and Destiny.Â
Pastor Fields accepted the call from God to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was licensed on May 11, 1998, at the Second Mount Zion Baptist Church under the tutelage of his father. He was called to pastor the Oxford Mount Zion Baptist Church, Ruther Glen, Virginia and was installed on October 22, 2000. During this time, the ministry has seen significant growth, recently celebrating 100 consecutive months of souls being saved and an expansion project that added 300 additional sanctuary seats. Several ministries were initiated, and lives continue to be enriched because of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Academically equipped with a Master of Divinity, Pastor Fields has been blessed to preach throughout the country. His exciting and theological approach to preaching has impacted the lives of many. God has gifted Pastor Fields to transcend from the church into the community, having particular emphasis on youth and young adults. God has given Pastor Fields a platform and he is a fighter for social justice and attends to his passion of equal and fair treatment for everyone. He served as the President of the Caroline County Chapter of the NAACP from 2018-2020. In 2017, Pastor Fields was appointed the office of District Leader of Virginia for the Global United Fellowship under the leadership of Bishop Neil C. Ellis. On May 8, 2022, Pastor Fields was elevated to the office of Bishop Designate by Bishop Ellis. His ministry motto is simple, “Preach until Heaven is happy!”
